Description
Origin: Picked in Spring 2020 in Yunnan, China.
This young sheng puErh is made from the buds and leaves of 200 – 300 year old trees. These old trees often have well established root structures that can reach deep into the ground to draw up normally inaccessible nutrients and minerals. As a result this tea has a very unique flavour profile and energy.
Dry Leaf – Eyes: Large, long leaves of darkest green, intertwined with light downy buds.
Wet Leaf – Nose: Lightly smoked orange peel, fizzy aloe, resinous wood, light leather and flint.
Taste – Mouth: Dried and lightly smoked orange and lemon peels. Young saplings, soft leather, flint with a hint of summer berries.
Texture – Mouth: A complex and tarty lingering sweetness accompanied by a fizzy effervescence on tongue. Playful astringency leads to a long lasting juicy moreishness.
Liquor – Eyes: Youthful and young yellow gold.
Tea Qi
The youthful, vibrant yang energy of a young virtuoso. Uplifting, fun with rippling whole body tingles.
Brewing Suggestions
We prefer to brew this tea Gong Fu style. You can use the brewing guide below as a good starting point. To experiment we recommend keeping the water temperature as constant as possible but varying steeping time to suit your tastes.
Gong Fu Cha: 3g per 90ml of water. Water temperature 99 C. First steeping 22 seconds. Each subsequent steeping + 5 seconds. These leaves can take a crazy number of steepings and should last for a good long session.
